Ancient Civilizations

Hi, my name is Sarah Bingham and I can't wait to be your child's 6th grade Social Studies teacher for the 22/23 school year.

A little bit about me:

I was born and raised in Switzerland and moved to Reno, NV in 2003. I was raised multilingual due to the cultural, linguistic and geographic dynamics of Switzerland. When I moved here I was an English Language Learner because English was my 5th language and I did not speak English proficiently in the beginning. However, this initial struggle and the continuous learning of languages throughout my life ignited a deep love of languages in me. I love reading, writing, and anything having to do with language. Also, due to having lived in different parts of the world and having traveled frequently throughout my life, I have acquired a love of history, geography, and learning about different cultures. The cool thing is that all of these aspects are a big part of 6th grade Social Studies, so I am filled with joy to go on this learning journey with your child! :-)

I graduated from UNR with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Elementary Teaching with a specialization in English as a Second Language. Currently I am working towards my M.Ed. in Reading Curriculum and Instruction, so when I am not teaching, I am usually studying. But, when I am not teaching or studying I like to spend all of my free time with my 10-year-old son. We enjoy being active outdoors, traveling, going on adventures and relaxing at home with our cat and dog.

I can't wait to get to know you and your children this school year and I am beyond excited to travel back in time with my students to learn about ancient civilizations.
